Player Bio and Testimonial

My name is Savannah Gatewood and I will graduate with the class of 2024. I attend West Ranch High School in Valencia, CA. I started playing softball when I was 8, and fell in love with the game. I enjoy the team atmosphere and appreciate the relationships I have made. My strongest position is second base, but I enjoy playing outfield too. As a team player I have learned that determination and hard work are important and valuable to not only softball but in all aspects of life. Oftentimes you have to take on a position you never considered before, which helps shape you as a better player and team member. I will never stop learning and always give 100% in all that I do. I am very competitive and aspire to play softball at the collegiate level. I would love to attend a university that provides outstanding educational opportunities and a competitive softball team. Outside of softball, I am hard working, driven, committed, happy and adventurous. I am very involved in my high school student government as a commissioner of athletics and head of social media. I belong to the California Scholarship Federation, Health Occupation Students of America an organization for aspiring health care professionals, and Drug Free Youth in Santa Clarita Valley an anti-drug program. I have also been a Girl Scout since I was five years old and I am currently working on the gold award which is the highest achievement within the Girl Scouts of the USA. I love being a positive role model in my community and actively giving back. All of these organizations and clubs that I am a part of have helped me grow into the person I want to become; independent, driven and compassionate. I am interested in majoring in biology or business with the goal of having my own medical practice one day. I work extremely hard academically and physically every day in hopes of making a great future for myself.
